最近入手したズミルックスSummiluxの最初期バージョンです。Numberが1777008ということなので、１９６０年製造になります。このレンズは正式には１９６１年販売開始ということになっていますが、その前年に製造が発表された時点から生産が開始されていたようです。販売開始当初の評価はかなり低く、「ダメレンズ」「設計ミス」と言われていた期間が長かったようですが、最近の評価は言うまでもありません。

The first version of Summilux 35mmf1.4 abtained recently. According to the Number 1777008 of the lens, this should be made in 1960 although Leitz formally announced that Summilux had started its sales on 1961. I estimate the production had already started when public announcement of the lens was made in 1960. The reputation at first was very bad and even called 'useless lens'. However, the recent re-evaluation and re-reputation of this lens is needless to say.

２０年くらい前にほとんど新品で購入したもので、もちろん元箱付のものです。346万番台は１９８８年製造ですね。球面の最後期バージョンで、無限クリックなどはついていませんが、ヘリコイドの適度な抵抗感はさすが。このレンズの特筆点は絞り込んだ時のピシッとしたクリアの描写で、個人的にはSummicron35ｍｍより上だと思います。

I bought this lens in 20 years ago as almost new condition. With original box as well. The Number 346xxxx means this was made in 1988. This lens is the last version of Non-Aspherical of Summilux 35mm. Although this lens is not provided the infinity lock, the feeling of turning Helicoid ring is marvelous. One specific point of this is sharpness and clearness of the description at a closed aperture(shutting diaphragm) which I personally is superior to Summicron 35mm.

評価

基本的にはまったく同じ構造、レンズ構成である両レンズですので、こうして比較しても描写違いはあまり見られません。
確認できた大きな違いは以下の２点。
①画角の違い
--最初期型のほうが焦点距離が長い（望遠方向）。画像の範囲を比較すると、後期型のほうがより広い範囲が写っています。差はごくわずかですが、初期型は35mmよりやや長めだったようです。
②ボケの強さ
--これは従来から言われているポイントですが、初期型ののほうが「ボケが大きい」ようです。部分拡大画像をみていただければ違いが確認できると思います。

Fundamentally, these are the same lens. Therefore I could find very small difference between two even comparing the detail part.
The two minor differences are as follows:
1. Difference of 'angle of view'
--Focal distance of 1st version is slightly longer than new version.
2. Softness of Bokeh
--As it is said commonly, Bokeh of 1st lens is bigger.
